Feast of Flowers

Did you know you can eat flowers? Well I didn't until recently - and when I found out, I thought I'd test it on a few guinea pigs! Next thing you know, I've got a table for 25 set up in my back yard - complete with a floral extravaganza!

So what did I serve?

Entree: Jasmine Martini's to start with - thanks Sass! Yes - you can eat jasmine flowers...

along with some yummy ibutcher.com.au cutlets - carefully bbq'd by the online butcher extraordinaire George Topham!

Some yummy cheese, garnished with more flowers!

Main: Lasagne (with lots of herbs of course) and garden salads - with peony petals (delicious!)

Dessert: rosewater icecream with brownies and strawberries, complete with rose petals!

Anyway, it was a beautiful night in the garden - the weather was perfect and the people were fun!! And next time I'm trying lavendar lamb!

I had sooooo much fun setting up - and thanks so much for my flatties who helped me set up, cook and clean up!!

And thanks again to the very talented Elise Hassey for taking such amazing photos - If you are looking for a photographer - for a wedding - or a floral feast! - have a look at her website: http://www.lisse.com.au/

A summer's day at the CYC for Pip's 30th Birthday

We had a gorgeous day down at the CYC in Rushcutter's Bay on Saturday for my Cousin Pip's 30th Birthday. To dress the room up a bit, we went with some bright coloured peonies and roses, with some gardenias and anenomes thrown in - what a beautiful day, with some beautiful flowers! Thanks to Pip's friend Sophie Kate for the great photos!

Happy Birthday Pippy!

Catherine and David's Stunning May Wedding

I was very lucky to work on the most amazing wedding in May this year, with a gorgeous couple Catherine and David.

The ceremony was held at St Josephs School Chapel in Hunter's Hill, and the reception at Deckhouse at Woolwich.

Catherine and David wanted something sophiscated and elegant, so we went with David Austin roses as the focal flower in the bouquets and buttonholes, but the flowers generally were beautiful, with fragance wafting out the Deckhouse Dining room with tuberose, sweet peas, freesias and roses - stunning!

Happy Wedding Anniversary Bec and Beva!

One year ago today on the 10/10/10, I worked on the most beautiful wedding in the Byron Hinterland - for a beautiful couple, Bec and Beva.

I've never seen so much detail go into a wedding, and it was just amazing.

Flowerwise, I loved having the opportunity to re-create Princess Grace's bouquet of fragrant lily of the valley, and tie it all in through the rest of the arrangements - the flowers were so pretty in their whites and soft pinks.

This was one of the most fun (and biggest) weddings I've worked on so far, I couldn't have done it without my Aunty Trish who became a florist for 2 days and helped me put it all together!

And I am so happy to be mates with these guys now - and am looking forward to beating Beva in the Noosa Tri in 3 weeks!!

Happy Anniversary Guys!
