James and Meredith, Safety Beach, March 2012

In March this year, Floreat Floral Design headed up to Safety Beach to do the wedding flowers for James and Meredith!

I first met with Meredith late last year, and she said she had no idea what flowers she wanted, she just wanted bright! Then a week later I had an email saying she remembered one flower she loved - A pink gerbera! So the flowers were based around the pretty pink gerbera, and here we have a bright, colourful, and beautiful beach wedding!!

Chasing Summer Photography took the amazing photos. Antony and MaryAnn Hands are based in Coffs Harbour, but travel all over the countryside taking beautiful photos like these!

Floreat Files Flower of the Month - May!

Paper Whites!

If you look carefully close to the ground at the markets now, you'll see bunches of paper whites carefully placed on top of each other in boxes, ready for paper white lovers like me to snap them all up!! They don't just have a scent, they have a PERFUME and you can smell their aroma as soon as you enter the room!

And yes, I have another story for you from Greek Mythology! Paperwhites are a form of jonquil or "narcissus", who is not just a species of flowers, but was a very handsome ancient Greek hunter, and he knew it. Nemesis (the spirit of devine retribution against those who succumb to arrogance!) saw this and attracted Narcissus to a pool where he saw his own reflection in the water and fell in love with it, not realizing it was merely an image of himself! Unable to leave the beauty of his reflection, Narcissus died, and a field of paper whites sprang up in his place!

Do yourselves a favour and fill your homes with some paper whites, and maybe if you're lucky they might transform back to a handsome hunter like the one below :)

Rebekah and Tony - Balmain, February 2012

Well I'm certainly getting to know the harbourside parks in Balmain! Bek and Tony had a beautiful ceremony the stunning Yurulbin Park in Balmain, and the reception at the Town Hall Hotel in downtown Balmain!

Bek and Tony wanted lots of different and bright coloured flowers in different bottles and jars scattered around the reception, so I used this theme for the girl's corsages - with each corsage having differnet flowers and colour schemes - but each tied in with stephanotis, which represents "happiness in marriage" - enjoy everyone!
