Catherine and David's Stunning May Wedding

I was very lucky to work on the most amazing wedding in May this year, with a gorgeous couple Catherine and David.

The ceremony was held at St Josephs School Chapel in Hunter's Hill, and the reception at Deckhouse at Woolwich.

Catherine and David wanted something sophiscated and elegant, so we went with David Austin roses as the focal flower in the bouquets and buttonholes, but the flowers generally were beautiful, with fragance wafting out the Deckhouse Dining room with tuberose, sweet peas, freesias and roses - stunning!

Happy Wedding Anniversary Bec and Beva!

One year ago today on the 10/10/10, I worked on the most beautiful wedding in the Byron Hinterland - for a beautiful couple, Bec and Beva.

I've never seen so much detail go into a wedding,and it was just amazing.

Flowerwise, I loved having the opportunity to re-create Princess Grace's bouquet of fragrant lily of the valley, and tie it all in through the rest of the arrangements - the flowers were so pretty in their whites and soft pinks.

This was one of the most fun (and biggest) weddings I've worked on so far, I couldn't have done it without my Aunty Trish who became a florist for 2 days and helped me put it all together!

And I am so happy to be mates with these guys now - and am looking forward to beating Beva in the Noosa Tri in 3 weeks!!

Daisies!!!

Some things you might not know about daisies....

Otherwise known as Bellis perennis.
Derived from the Olde English "Day's Eye" because the flower opened in
daylight and closed at sunset.
Found all over the world, with the exception of Antactica and the
extreme Arctic.
A popular girl's name - ie. Daisy Duck, Daisy Duke, Daisy from Keeping
up Appearances, Daisy Buchanan (The Great Gatsby).
The name of my first pet kitten.

And for those of you who haven't guessed already, one of my favourite flowers!

In the words of Meg Ryan in You've got Mail - "Don't you just love
daisies, they're so freindly!" She's right! They are so pretty and
simple - and it's like they are the sun shining on you.

I've had the pleasure of using them as part of my work so far -
including this cute little hair circlet I put together for Daisy
Horsfield's first birthday in the photo below.

I was also lucky enough to be asked by Natalie and Luke Forrestal to
use them as the focal flower for the girls bouquets and Natalie's hair
circlet for their wedding in Watsons Bay in Jan '11. I've already
posted some pics of their gorgeous wedding earlier, but Nat, being an
awesome photographer, and fellow lover of daisies, has a website appropriately named Daisy and the Bear, where she has lots of examples of her works of art!

October Flowers!

Well you may not have been able to get out and about much over the weekend, but a visit out to the Flower Markets at Flemington is all you need to know that Spring has well and truly sprung, and we are already a month into my favourite season of the year!

So the weather may not be that bright at the moment, but you can certainly brighten up your home, or someone else's day, with the beautiful flowers out there at the moment! Here is a list of what you can get out there, with some prices, and some pics for inspiration! The flowers are all just so pretty, with the beautiful roses just starting to come out, all the pretty bluebells, lavendar, lots of gorgeous ranunculus and delphinium.
